2002 2003 Protege non working cruise control fix
Hi Protege drivers,
Just want to pass on this tip about cruise control. My cruise control stopped working though the dash light would indicate it was on. My 2002 Protege 5 speed manual has 353,000 miles on it and I figured it was just old and died. I use cruise a lot, checked the threads here and didn't see one indicating what I found out. I was checking something else under the hood and noticed a broken rubber vacuum line coming from the big round passenger side throttle booster thing. I reconnected it and now my cruise control works perfect again. So check your vacuum lines if you have problem, maybe I was just lucky bu that fixed the CC as well as a rough idle. For whatever that worths ,hope it helps someone.

Thanks for the tip. I am trying to figure out why mine isn't engaging at all. Not even a dash light with the Main CC switch turned on. The manual for the car has quite a PITA troubleshooting steps but likely will need to go that route.
Thanks for sharing this tip, @Jay Browne! Vacuum lines are an often overlooked part of older vehicles. Good to know a simple reconnection could fix it. Really appreciate you posting your experience to help out other Protege owners.
