Default Touch up pen

I ordered a factory oem touch up pen for my meteor gray mica 2014 Mazda 3. I知 just wondering do I need clear coat as well? Or is it good to go. I知 just fixing tiny tiny chips. And I知 just wondering do I compound before or after

If you’re just fixing tiny chips (and that’s about all the paint pens are good for), you don’t need clear coat. DON’T compound before; you’ll never get every last bit out from the chip and the paint won’t stick well. Put in just enough paint to coat the base and edges of the chip. Let it fully dry and harden. Continue same until the chip is full and flush with the original paint. If needed, you can compound then, but the paint and clear coat are really thin and it’s easy to go too far. Just polish should be enough. It’s kind of a learned skill. Chips are a fact of driving a car on planet earth.

Sorry I don't have any pictures. Maybe I will post some in the future on my thread.

For many chips up and even some scratches this kit if you follow the direction to the letter result in nearly impossible to see the paint repair.

Notice it comes with Primer, Factory paint and Clear coat to seal it up!

You can wax or polish it after it dries in a day and not ever worry about it coming out from washing your car.

Where’d you get that from? I got mine direct from Mazda and it was just the touch up pen. The whole kit like that would certainly be more ideal.

Ya those touch up pins and paint dating from forever back will not fill the chips.

The little 3 step set sets I use seems to work very well.

What color primer would I need for meteor gray mica? If I look really closely at the chip I can see it goes right down I see a tiny tiny bit of rust almost it looks like.

Hi, I have 2017 special edition Artic Blue, 400 made. I can't find any pens with my colour, looks like I'm going to have to order one. For now I got hold of a T- Cut PEN scratch remover. I'm amazed how well small (not down to the bone) scratches seem to disappear. 」8.50 from Asda (UK).

I have a white RF. I have some black scratches on the back from when I backed into my husband's car (gulp). I got a touch-up pen from the dealer but it didn't work. It now looks worse! The paint ran down the side and it looks kind of cloudy gray and like there's dirt on my car.

Do I have to have the whole thing painted or would it be worth trying to fix it myself with the full kit? I watched the YT videos but I don't know. I'm a novice at stuff like this.
Wondering how much it would cost to get it professionally done. Afraid to ask!

It's kind of hard to see in a photo but it's very apparent in person. My car looks perpetually dirty! Sorry for large photo. I don't know how to make it smaller.
