Even the orange and yellow stuff that's supposed to last 100k miles?

The antifreeze the American companies use will not last 100k without breaking down. Dexcool is the worst. There are plenty of lawsuits being bantered around about Dexcool. Toyota and Honda use antifreeze that contains no silicates/sulfates and will last 100k. It costs $22.00 a gallon for 50/50 though. All the manufacturers recommendations for maintenance intervals got scaled up with the internet revolution because of the (maintenance cost per year) numbers that effect sales. As long as the car makes it out of warranty it makes no difference to them if it breaks because the car did not get the maintenance it truly needed. Like transmissions/differentials used to get serviced every 30k, Now the service interval is never or maybe 100k. Don't trust their mainte3nance schedule recommendations. Bean counters, not engineers made those to enhance sales.
