Default No Heat in '87 B2000 Pickup

I just got a "free" 1987 B2000 pickup and discovered that the heater is not working. I checked the controls for the heater and they look like they are working correctly so I'm guessing that the problems is the heater core. Does this sound like the problem? If so, how hard is it to change the heater core? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS. This looks like g great forum.

I would first check the engine temp to see if it is hot enough. If it has a gauge, does it run at about half way up? Also check to make sure the heater hoses are hooked up and not bypassing tie heater core. If the engine is running at a normal temp (about 190 deg) feel the heater hoses to see if they are both hot, if only one is hot I would suspect a clogged core.

what part of your heat is not working
engine not reaching operating temp ?(thermstat)
no heat inside from heater?(plugged heater core or control cable bent/binding)
