Serpentine belt broke, Alternator damaged?
Hi Guys,
i have a 2000 Millenia, the low battery light came on while driving. when i pulled over i found out my serpentine belt (that goes on the alternator) was gone. i just bought a new belt, and a new tensioner and im currently working on replacing both of them. However, before i do that i figured ill check the alternator to make sure it isnt damaged also. When i turn on the car i noticed the alternator pulley isnt spinning (i havent installed the belt and tensioner yet). i can manually spin it when the car is off. However the alternator is not spinning on its on when the engine is turned on and running. Is this normal? is it suppose to spin when the engine is on?
Thanks much.
