Exclamation flat battery damaged electric window control

Hi,
I'm a bit of a newb on these things but here goes. (MAZDA 5 2.0 PETROL - 56 REG)

I found my battery flat (proper flat.. dead!) this morning after one of the kids left all the courtesy lights on over the weekend. I got it jump started and left it running for about 30min to guarantee the charge was good. sweet.

However. Having driven it this afternoon, I found I could operate only the driver's window from the driver's door (each window control worked for it's respective window) but not from the drivers' console.

Also, the window buttons have the extra press/pull for auto up/down. this no longer works either.

Everything worked up till the battery prob this morning. There is no history of this problem in the car's docs either.

I appreciate any help.

Dave

You have to "reprogram" the windows if the battery has been disconnected (of flat). If I remember correctly, the procedure is as follows:
On each door do the following:
- Press the window button until the window is fully opened, and keep holding the button down for 5 seconds after the window has stopped.
- Pull the window button until the window is fully closed, and keep holding the button up for 5 seconds after the windows has stopped.

Now it should be possible to operate all windows from the driver's door.

Thanks KLN66 I also have had a flat battery and found my windows would not work from the driver controls. Your instructions are perfect. Thanks

If you still have the auto up or down not working do the following. Open that window, then close that window but as it closes completely home assist it by putting your hand on the glass and push it up too firmly, while still holding window close button up, you may, or may not, hear an electronic or motor click. You will know if it worked because when you do that extra click down it will be automatic again down and up. It's like it has to fully close to reset the auto.
I suffer, only mildly, with this issue every so often as I have fitted some very nice wind deflectors (heko.pl via ebay from Germany).

There is a whole section in the user manual for the electric windows: you can program them for one-touch up and down, or not of course, and for the momentary push to crack open the window, or any combination. Very clever.
I have found that occasionally if a door is opened whilst a window is being operated, it forgets the settings for that window and I need to re-program it. I assume the voltage drop when all the courtesy lights come on (as the door is opened) just glitches the settings for the window.

I have a pdf of the 2007 owners manual, but it doesn't go into much detail about the windows. Can you tell me if yours has a 'form' or 'part' number please (on the back maybe?) so I can order one?

Thanks

tobykenobi, I think Dads_Taxi is referring to form BU19-EE-05C. The section talking about windows is 3-43.
