Recall on all CX-5 models
#31
topol, Your way over thinking this. Mazda initiated this campaign on their own. The fuel fill neck is mounted to ridged and in a particular impact, at a particular speed, and only during llama mating season, it may not "give" and cause a problem. As far as I have been able to tell, this recall is only for the USA since we're the ones that will run to an attorney and blame everybody else if something goes wrong.

Got a problem with the recall. I need to get it done but due to a horrific buying experience, I will never set foot in the dealer I bought this from ever again.
Is there some way I can have my local repair guy do this instead, like some document or directive on how to get the job done?

I am truly disappointed that who had a cr@ppy experience with the dealer. Don't hesitate to reach out to Mazda Corporate to complain. Sometimes making them aware of a problem goes a long way. You definitely need to have the recall completed by a Mazda dealer. Should only take them 15 mins to do if that. Or if your planning a trip real soon, like paris said, stop at a dealer along the way. Should be no big deal.

Thanks for the replies guys. No other dealer close so perhaps I'll take a day or two off and go on a little trip.
Great cars, bad dealer so my next car will have to be another brand. Too bad, I bet the next CX-5 is going to be amazing.
