Why do car enthusiasts hate entry-level luxury cars?

When I work on those, they give me a hard time by thinking that I should be working on some of my classic car projects instead!! It's quite hilarious really!

LOL There was a short period that I was in-between having a running car. Most of mine either had blown engines or transmission. My parents gave me the family station wagon 1965 Olds F85 that was over 100k miles for me to be able to drive back and forth to school (highschool) . Think about that a high school kid driving a station wagon. LOL Many jokes were created about that from my friends. I went through several American 50,s 60,s and 70,s muscle cars but on Friday night I always cruised my 12 second Station Wagon. (clocked at Fremont Drags strip 1975 12.57@112 mph)
My brief time with Mazda trucks in the 80's as well the Ford Rangers I always did some mods and most who knew me asked "WHY". I said because its in my blood !

having personally owned now at this point in my life well over 100+ vehicles I can tell you my tastes have varied over the years as well as interest and personally never gave a Rats **** what anyone thought about what I drove at the time. Let me tell you friends that know me well often make smiles of me owning a Mazda let alone a N/A Mazda. The funny thing is more so then my have a PT Cruiser. But I suppose because I rebadged the PT and it has N2o as does 0-60 in 5 second and I wont mention the 1/4 mile times they tend not to say to much.

I like the cars I purchase otherwise I wouldn't buy them, and except for professional reviews, I don't care nor listen to what others say about them.
I also really like some I could never afford, like the Koenigsegg CC850.
My wife on the other hand, doesn't want any high-end brand models in the yard, she claims it's all basically snobbery.
I would have to agree with her because in our neighborhood and families, the Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Maserati owners have no concept of vehicle engineering, maintenance or handling.
They purchased their vehicles just to show them off in the yard and work the badge brand into a sentence whenever possible.
My wife said no more BMW's (I once had a BMW Z3), Porche's, Mercedes or the like in our driveway.
The 24-year banker in her said our money could be much better spent.
I agreed, after all she did embrace my motorcycle passion, which ran against all her financial positions.

Lobstah I somewhat agree. In my life thus far I have only owned a couple exotic brand cars. If any vehicle cost more than 40K I really don't think I would buy it mainly because I can build a vehcle on an existing platform better in almost all aspects.
Besides I think I said somewhere on this thread or at least this forum a couple times, having owned a few AC Cobra's it is really hard to want or desire any other car.

The funny thing talking about AC's is my completely debagged (not one thing anywhere has a Mazda decal emblem or identifying tag) MAZDA 3 and with the AC on the grill most have no clue what make my Mazda is. What generally gives it away is the Mazda smile of the front grill.

I like to de-badge occasionally myself or at least remove some of them.
My wife had me remove the bowtie from all my Chevy vehicles, she just always found it extremely tacky.
My only issue with my CX-5 is why did they put pins in all the rear badging?
You can't remove them unless you fill in the holes and paint.

Yes I know. welded up the holes and repainted my trunk lid

Removing the Chevy Bowtie LOGO.... now that is criminal. LOL

I guess she would NEVER have gone for the ROAD RUNNER bird on some Mopar's? rolmao

I guess you wife would have hated what I did to the rear wind of one of my Camaros. It was the 1967 RS . I removed the rear window and masked off the all but the center are which was in the shape of the bow tie. Then lightly bead blast the complete rear window . Only the center area of the Bowtie was left clear. Then I had the window flow tinted. Very high tech back then when window film was gold, mirror or dark turning purple over one summer. LOL

Yeah, my wife has a very specific opinion about people who feel the need to draw attention to themselves and I can't say she's wrong.
As her opinion was heavily influenced by my being a worldwide motorcycle club President.
Or more correctly, now no longer President

"Car enthusiast"

Is that someone that does donuts in the middle of the night or someone that installed a magnaflow and rides with the seatback reclined at a 45° angle? Pants around the knees with a neck tattoo? "Car enthusiast" is a REALLY impressive description and opinions are REALLY important.

Well couple things.... your post indicates you are not a car enthusiast and that picture me nor any of my friends or associates in the automotive industry in decades would ever put their asres or feet in the manor of the picture on their Cars. I don't even lazy lean on mine and never have. I eve never allowed the SHOW girls for magazines that my past cars have been in to pose laying on my car no matter how small their bikini's were or topless. Car enthusiasts have a natural respect for their rides.

Honestly maybe I am being overly sensitive, but your response was very limited in thought and somewhat offensive in more ways than you may think. LOL

I found a self-described "performance car enthusiast" that claims to be ASE certified. His claim must be true because it's on the internet. He even has documents on his youtube profile so it must be real!

A Corvette is not a luxury car brand and are fairly common.
As Cali said a true car enthusiast would never put anything but the correct formulated wax on a treasured possession, especially their own.
But a true car enthusiast would surely already be aware of that.
