sump

can anyone help me i have a few small holes in the sump of my Mazda 323 v6 does anybody know what metal it is made from if so could i mig a plate on ......tryed metal filler lasted a few weeks so need a good fix

Aren't those sumps cast aluminum? I'm pretty sure they are.
If not then mild steel is usually the metal of choice.
