The following pics are from one of my favorite car movies: TWO LANE BLACKTOP. Drag racing east from Los Angeles in a souped-up ’55 Chevy are the wayward Driver and Mechanic (singer-songwriter James Taylor and the Beach Boys’ Dennis Wilson, in their only acting roles), accompanied by a tagalong Girl (Laurie Bird). Along the way, they meet Warren Oates’s Pontiac 1970 GTO Judge and challenge him to a cross-country race. The prize: their cars’ pink slips. They trek across America occasionally challenging cars in towns to drag races both on the street and strip.

The '80 through '83 Civics were small, but not as small as the even earlier ones. A few mods to her in the form of distributor and carb mods, plus that short, short wheelbase made for some interesting driving.

BTW: That yellow car is a 1970 GTO Judge, the only year with tha stripe package. And its been outfitted with my favorite looking wheels from the period. Keystone Classics, though they were not light-weight or that well made. I always liked the way they looked a bit better than the Crager SS's.

We left the realm of Mazda real quick!

NSU 1000, 1L rear engine air cooled 40 HP. There was also a TTS version with a 110 HP, 1200cc engine. Audi tried that retro-styling with the TT based on the TTS
This particular picture was taken when I was a teenager. I remember these cars. Right front: Opel Ascona, NSU Prinz 1000, Mercedes Benz, VW Bug
back row from the right: Datsun?, Renault 16, don't know the white one, Citroen 2CV.

In my opinion with the W111 Mecedes Benz put the most stylish cars on the road.
This is a '69 280 SE Cabriolet.

Back to Mazda: The RX7 is the most stylish Mazda to me.

Yes, it's hard to deny the 7's appeal.
While not a movie car, but a very nice and practical DD for me, I was once actively shopping for a 1st gen MX-6. I didn't have the power I might have wanted, not even in the turboed version, but I liked the style, practicality and just the way they drove!!

I was never able to come to acceptable terms on the car, but I was looking at a white one w/blue interior LX model. 5-sp, of course with a sunroof. It also had the factory alloys. While not the prettiest, were much better than some of the goofier, even uglier designs Mazda has offered in the past.

I offer a photo example of the model in question:

Incredible what risks they took! Brace yourself for the landing!

Virgin1: yes, the MX6 was beautiful, a bit conservative, but very well proportioned. The Sister car was the Ford Probe. I liked the looks of the 1 gen Probe. A few years ago I test drove a 2. Gen. What I did not like was the high position of the steering wheel, and the hard ride. The latter is probably a sign of my aging.

Did someone say 1st Gen Probe!
I had a 1989 Ford Probe GT. 4 cylinder Turbo! It was great.

Default Republic Of Doyle

Just saw this Mazda 3 car on "Republic of Doyle".
It's a TV show about a P.I. that gets in a lot of trouble along with his family in Newfoundland, Canada. It's a family business. He gets hit in the head every show, yet never has a concussion. His phone rings all the time as well.
He is in the pic (Jake) and taking a pic. He has the hots for a female cop (see attached pic).

Just saw the smashed up Mazda this morning on Weather Channel (pic attached).
