Thumbs up How to know if my car is due for a wheel alignment?

Hi guys, here are some good tips on how to decide whether your car is due to wheel alignment.
1. The steering wheel steer off the center
If you're driving an off-center wheel even if it's only over a few degrees in either direction – it's a simple indicator that your vehicle needs a wheel alignment.
Doing so can bring the car's steering wheel back to the center. It will also boost the overall driving efficiency of your car
2. The car moves sharply in one direction
If you're driving and your car is pulling to one side of the lane, it's an easy signal that you need to check and correct the wheel alignment of your vehicle.
3. Uneven or abnormal tire wear
Check the tires and check if there is wear on the outside or inside edges of the tire. If yes, this is a direct indicator of the issue of camber adjustment.
The mechanic often notices tire wear while undertaking repair, inspection, and tire rotation. If you are checking abnormal wear patterns in your car tires, you should start thinking about having a wheel alignment on your car. Apart from good tire alignment, it also offers other advantages, including longer tire life and even tire wear.
4. Handling the car feels loose
It might feel sloppy or very unstable around the corners. If you're experiencing it in your car, if you're turning or going straight, it's time to check the alignment of your vehicle's wheel and correct it accordingly.
5. The steering wheel doesn’t return to the center
In this case, you will have to get it checked and, if required, make a full alignment.
6. Vibrations on steering wheel
More often, this is because of unbalanced tires, but it can also be a sign that your vehicle is due for a wheel alignment. When it comes to alignment problems, the vibration is the result of the tires pulling in the opposite directions of each other.

ASE Master Technician how to decide whether your car is due for a wheel alignment or other suspension brake or chassis service.
.
1. The steering wheel steer off the center
Slight off center is not uncommon new from the factory or from the last alignment, more then slight there may be damage to the suspension or chassis.

2. The car moves sharply in one direction
This could also because from more serious suspension problem or a tire that is badly under inflated,

3. Uneven or abnormal tire wearDepends on the wear pattern, driving habits or more appropriate poor driving habits can effect how the tread wears especially on FWD vehicles, low tire pressure or other suspension parts wear or damage can cause this.

4. Handling the car feels loose
This one is very subjective to driver experience and driver awareness of what is correct feel for the characteristics of the vehicle. It may also be a sign that the tires are under or over-inflated or other suspension problems and /or damage.

5. The steering wheel doesn’t return to the center
Tire pressure incorrect or other suspension wear or damage

6. Vibrations on steering wheel
Damaged wheels or tires, suspension damage or excessive wear , power steering or steering rack and pinion assembly damaged or worn or needing service, brake system components or system .

The bottom line is if you have ANY of the mentioned condition you should go to a qualified service shop that can inspect your chassis and suspension, tires and wheels and alignment

Great suggestions. At a minimum it would be a good indication of a problem, alignment or otherwise, that your trusted local mechanic should be able to diagnose.

Default wheel alignment

i got my wheels aligned and didn't know the tire shop was supposed to reset the computer in my car. no wonder my steering wheel was off center. i took it to a second shop at a different location and they noticed the alignment wasn't correct and the previous place didn't reset the mazdas computer.. now it performs perfectly.. you would think the same big name shop would all follow the same procedures, apparantly not.
