The immediate halt of manufacturing for StopTech, Raybestos, and Centric isn't just a corporate hiccup; it’s a systemic failure. First Brands Group, the parent entity that gutted these names to service a $6 billion debt load, has entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This move follows federal fraud indictments against the company's founders in late 2025. While retailers will clear out current shelves, the production of new calipers, rotors, and pads has stopped entirely.
Engineering Decline and Fiscal Ruin
StopTech originally built its name as the thinking man's Brembo, offering track-ready kits that didn't require a second mortgage. However, the 2020 acquisition by First Brands Group seemingly marked the beginning of the end for their mechanical integrity. Investigative reports and customer feedback recently uncovered a decline in hardware quality, with reports of failing rotors and substandard replacement components surfacing as the parent company prioritized debt service over metallurgy.
The Loss of Professional Grade Hardware
Raybestos, a name synonymous with American stopping power since 1902, is perhaps the most tragic casualty of this fiscal fire sale. While StopTech handled the track, Raybestos and Centric provided the backbone for millions of daily drivers across the States. With no buyers emerging to rescue these brands, the diversity of the aftermarket is being gutted, leaving consumers to choose between overpriced boutique brands or unverified overseas knockoffs.
Legacy in the Rearview
The void left by StopTech will be felt at every local track day from Laguna Seca to Lime Rock. For nearly three decades, they provided the bridge between street-legal stopping and full-race deceleration. Now, as the remaining inventory trickles through online retailers, the "Red Pig" of brake makers joins the ranks of fallen icons, a victim of corporate greed and fraudulent mismanagement rather than a lack of engineering demand.
Strategic Directive
Scour online retailers immediately and stockpile rebuild kits, seals, and specific bridge bolts for your existing StopTech calipers; once the current warehouse inventory is depleted, these precision-engineered parts will vanish, turning your high-end big-brake kit into an unserviceable paperweight.
The only good news about that sad article is ...................................
That article makes many of us all think that other manufactures from other counties especially China that we label without knowing all that has been happening over a period of time regarding that misconception being everything coming from them as inferior and having less quality manufactured parts yet those that are in the now regarding worldwide manufacturing of auto parts we know there has been many new companies directives building high end manufacturing of auto parts including brake components for over a decade. So, the iconic brand names they we all have trusted for decades may be gone, but quality brake parts will still be available. We will just have to learn to like the new names of performance brake parts.
I can see some very big changes taking place in the motor industry and maybe not for the good. The volume of unsold inventory particularly cars is becoming a big concern for manufacturers and increasing government compliance paints a bleak picture. Ford have a special on now for 2023 yes 2023 Ford Ranger (sort of Mazda). Where have they been sitting? then they probably have old 2024/25 models to move. Sad to se Raybestos going down the drain.
lol, it seems a couple new members didn’t notice that the term of use on this forum was in English. So logical one would conclude that is the language used?
My thought if a person must use a different language then provide both thier language of choice and an English translated version. Or just go with the flow and use English.
Probably a BOT trying to take up forum space. Makes no sense to read a message in English then reply in another. The people that run this forum might find it getting cluttered to the point it will not operate and put in place people recognition to reduce these occurrences.

The response in the other language thankfully appears deleted
Getting back to this post. We had 7 car manufacturers here in Australia now we have none. The government is negotiating with China to start up a car production plant here. Go figure.
