Computer Virus Software
A couple months ago I had viruses on my Laptop. I've had my Laptop for 3.5 years and use it daily for hours! I've had AVG security software forever and over 1 year ago bought the Identity protection. This is extremely hard to set-up and not worth the hassle.
AVG did not find my virus. I deleted AVG and went with security that came with the laptop which is Norton. Norton did not find virus. I deleted the Norton and bought the well acclaimed "Bit Defender". Bit Defender did not find my virus. My laptop would not shut off or turn on windows. I was getting "System 32" warnings for months (way before I installed Norton & Bit Defender).
I finally took it in to the computer place. They checked my hardrive, etc. They said I had a virus in System 32 and Microsoft Security Essentials removed them (about 10 files in System 32). He then installed the FREE Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop (which has "Windows XP"). I have no longer had any issues, but with my laptop aging I want to save it and decided to buy a brand new Desktop computer. I bought an ASUS CM6340-CA003S which has Windows 8, 2 TB Hardrive, 16 GB RAM Memory, intel i5 quad processor, HDMI output, and a good graphics card.
With Windows 8, Microsoft Security Essentials becomes Windows Defender as is already installed as an app on your computer. First you go in to control panel and remove whatever security protection they loaded up (ie: McAfee, Norton, AVG). Then go in to security and activate the Windows Defender. Now you have good protection for FREE.

Well Ironic! I JUST did uninstall crap, and reinstalled system mechanic on my 4 year old. Took 2 hours to scan registry/drive ect. Still slow but I was having issues with trying to get to even this BB, seems ok now. Cannot afford a new PC right now.
You wouldn't believe all the crap that comes with windows 8. There are so many apps with direct links to internet sites as well as facebook, twitter, flicker. The only people that use twitter are twits!
Facebook is good for not getting a job as your potential employer checks your facebook account, plus my nephew got hacked via facebook. At least on this forum we are still incognito, undercover. All these apps are good for another avenue for hackers to get in to your computer. Never ever do any banking on-line!
If your going to use a visa card on-line, make sure your limit is low (ask bank to lower it, they will).
I had a hard time loading up my pictures so I just installed my software that came with camera and deleted the apps. There is a separate photo viewer app-----what's wrong with Windows Photo Viewer or Microsoft Picture Manager for viewing and deleting photos? Too many options.
It's hard to completely delete this apps and programs as they are not shown separately in "add and remove programs". You can get rid of the icon and maybe some apps.

Really getting impressed with my new computer. Last night I got the "Extendable Desktop" to work. Now my 46" LED TV is 1700x1000 resolution and 20" monitor is 1600x900. With this feature I was able to move some desktop items like VLC video to the TV only. I dragged it from my monitor thru the right side of the monitor and it appeared from the left side of the TV on to the TV desktop only. I only watch VLC movies on TV so this is great at better resolution.
I can drag any window from my monitor to TV and do different tasks. With my web input work this will be handy. Many times I am adding part #'s, HP + TQ gains as well as what the part is for on a picture. To do this I was always flipping back and forth screens to get proper info, now I just look at my monitor while I type on my TV.
Attached a pic that I modify as well as the original:
