Transmission Oil Level
You fill and check, add as needed to fill. I do not recommend you go by the amount as in almost every case it will either over fill or under fill your UNIT if it be transmission, engine oil, differentials etc.
The only use the amount indicated is best for IMHO and how most all service shops (even dealership service departments) use the quantity info or charts is to make sure that they at least have the amount needed (maybe a little more) for the service.
If you look on many platform forums there is always a debate on the amount used and numerous responses how when using the quantity specified for the service, they are either too much or not enough. And NO the dip stick is not to blame maybe the "dipstick" doing the oil level check???
