Default Ten Mazda's and loving it

Hello I'm new to the forum and thought I would give a brief backgroud. Bought my first Mazda 4 years out of high school. An 1983 B2200 long bed. Drove it to work for 38 years, Just retired. Still runs great 51 mpg so I have no desire of ever selling. Bed is starting to rust through. She keeps company with several others. 1984 B2200 diesel, 1986 B2000 cab plus 2x4, 1989 short bed B2600 4x4, 1990 cab plus B2600 4x4, 1992 short bed B2200 2x4, 1993 shortbed B2600 4x4, 1997 MPV 4x4, 1998 MPV 2x4 and a 2001 Miata. Okay half are part sources but all but the 84, 86 and 89 run.

Jeff
ps: Some quirk of nature but I also have a Chevy K2500, Ford F250 6.9 and a Subaru Hatchback.

Nice collection! I have a half dozen myself (mostly project cars), but only one Mazda, a '92 MX-3 with the 1.8 liter V6 and a five speed manual. 89k miles and bone stock, now running right! Rust repair is a common theme on any Mazda, and mine is no exception either. The rockers have started to go, so I'll be burning a lot of wire this winter!! Do you have plans to repair your bed??

With so many I don't have time or money to restore all. The bed on the 84 is near mint but is a short bed the 83 is long. The 85 Ford bed is rotted through so I will be making a tractor out of it to pull my dad's 87 Alpenlite 5th wheel. The Ford was actually his, only 130K miles.. I'm concentrating with saving the front fenders with POR. The Miata had a branch fall on it and crunched the rear fender. All of them need new paint. I'm thinking of putting the Mazda diesel into the 1993 Mazda and moving the engine from the 93 into the 90. So many things and it just turned cold.

Hi and welcome aboard! Great to have another Mazda fan here. You'll find some interesting info on this forum. If you haven't found what you're looking for, feel free to post a question. If you have knowledge that someone else is looking for, feel free to share!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm got a fairly good knowledge of all my Mazda's. The Miata has been worked on the least. But I've rebuilt manual transmissions on 83 and 84. The biggest problem with them is finding the c clip's and counter. I've never had to touch the S2 diesel other than the usual starter, alternator, glow plugs, filters and such. I'm currently looking for a material to replace the vanes inside the alternator driven vacuum pump. On the B2600 G6 engine I have replaced heads (that is the weak link on this engine) and the other usual items. The MPV JE engine I have found needs the valve cover gaskets replaced every few years as well as the o ring on the pcv located at the rear of the right head. If you start smelling oil vapors in the cabin I have found it is always the o ring and sometimes the gasket. Biggest problem I'm having now is tracking down parts.

man i would love to have a collection. i just finally after basically my whole life wanting a mazda b series truck became the proud owner of a 92 short bed regular cab 2200 5 speed. and in my area of the country central pa they are extremely hard to find. even parts trucks are hard to find. ive been looking everywhere for another truck just to have parts laying around. i need to do some rust work on mine thats for sure. would love to find a replacement bed for it and the cab i plan on just fixing all the little rust problems myself.

That is the one area I have not taught myself in. I have tackled everything else but body work. Unfortunately it won't be this year.. I'll be spending the summer working on a pair of diesels. Chevy 6.5 and Ford 6.9.
