I am working on a friends 2008 cx7 turbo it has multiple oil leaks i found that the power steering was leaking between pump and tank. i changed the o ring and all is well the Crank seal was leaking too so i pulled the main pulley and changed the seal.After installing crank pulley i forgot to set the timing and tried to start it.It instantly immobilized but throws no codes what do i need to do to reset it so it will run.Starter cranks fast and no injector pulse and no spark.I put in the stop and set the pulley as per manual crank against stop tool hole in pulley aligned with hole in crank case and 20th tooth on pulley centered on cps still wont run

 

You need to use both timing tools.

 

the problem with this 2008 cx7 is the vvt failed and and all the intake valves got bent. With 125000 the owner has to decide if its worth putting 2 grand into a car that blue books at 3 to 5 grand. If anybody else has a 2.3 engine that cranks fast, check your compression. When the vvt fails it take the valves with it

 

service bulletin # 01-012/12 proves mazda new this was a problem but ignored it because it happens mostly around 70,000 miles and wont honor extended warranty if you cant prove it had all oil changes on time.so if you have one that wont run check compression before doing anything else.
