can anyone tell me what is the pump attached with the alternator is for??

E2200, is that a diesel? Photo? Where do the pipes/hoses go to?

if so, it may be a vacuum pump for the brake booster?
or
Power steering pump?
or
Fuel Pump?
or
Water pump?
