Wink Mazda 5, 16" rims

We just picked up our first Mazda and it has 16" rims with 205/55,R16 tires, just looked for a door tag for tire size and no sticker (should there be one). I read on another post that you can use 17" or 16" as the drive train is the same on all models...is that true?
next question is if 16" protege rims will fit on our mazda 5. bolt pattern
Thanks in advance.

A set of 17" wheels wrapped with 205/50 R17s will interchange with your 16" wheels shod with 205/55 R16. Wheels from the Mazda3 and the Mazda5 will work for certain; cannot speculate about wheels from the Protege.
