Smile Hi Everyone, Might buy today =)

Hi Everyone,

My family and me are thinking about buying a 2010 Mazda5 Sport Auto for our second car. This is our first new car we have bought and we have the dealer at $15,984 for a new one, bone stock. Is this a good price? It is hard for me to tell as this is my first new car and I don't want to be taken for a ride Anyways, hopefully I will be posting here after I have my car... let me know what you think of the price!

Thanks
Kmc127

Hi kmc. Welcome aboard.

Without doing any actual research, Yes, that sounds like a very good price on a left-over '10. <$16k is Mazda3i territory, and a base 3i at that. (5-sp manual trans, 2.0L engine, small wheels and brakes, no central locking or power windows, base stereo and instruments.)
I don't think or know how you could do much better than that. They must want to move it pretty badly, though I'm sure Mazda has given them incentives to move the car off their floor plan too.

Oh, but beware the after sale incentives. They will offer you a chance to buy, an extended warranty, wheel/tire warranty, paint protection, body protection and so on.
Listen to them (with ears closed) as you probably will not have a choice anyway, but your favorite word in that discussion should be, No. I'm not interested. They are all designed to pump up the dealer's profits and are not likely to benefit you in the long run.

No, to me that sounds like a spectacular deal. Go for it, and good luck!

consumer auto guide has them from 16000-23000, I'd say that's a good deal. And as virgin say's... no, no, no, to the incentives. will be cheaper to go after market on most of what they will offer anyway. Good luck!!

also kmc, there is a recall on power steering for the 3 and the 5, I can't remember if the 2010 models are included. can anyone verify weather they are or not?

"edit" according to NHTSA, the recall is for 07-09 models. disregard the above for the 2010.
