Question Help! Mazda 323 loses power and cuts out

I have a Mazda 323 Astina (BJ) 2000 model. It randomly loses power and cuts out. This happens when the car gets hot, e.g. sitting at traffic lights (them I am stuck in the middle of the road), a long road trip on the motorway (this is so dangerous and scary) It will not start up again for around 20min to half hour. The car will be running well no signs of any problems, then gives a little cough and everything has shut down. I have sprayed the MAF sensor with sensor spray, checked hoses for any breaks (couldn't see anything) I have rang a Mazda dealer they informed me this may be hard to detect, trial and error. I don't have the finances for trial and elimination can anyone HELP! with some advise, I am sure this may have happened to someone else, How was it fixed ? Much appreciated any advise. Woo
