Thumbs up Greetings!

I'm not a current CX-50 owner, but plan to get busy on it when I receive my full ownership title to my present SUV (don't ask!). I'm here to get the inside info on these CX-50s, but from what I have read, they are the best in mid-size SUVs.
I had to register here with a Mazda brand and Model to subscribe to this Forum. So here I am now, faking it, but will edit my Profile when I drive my new CX-50 home from the dealer.
While I wait to receive my full owner title for my current car, I'm currently dithering over:
  1. Whether to sell my current car or trade it in.
  2. Go with NA or turbo.
  3. Go with gas or hybrid.
  4. Then, whether to go with the Premium level or the Premium Plus.
  5. The exterior color must be light, preferably white.
  6. Likewise, the interior color must be light; i.e., other than black.
The NA I sat in today at the dealer's was blue with white interior, but that interior will not be a possible choice in the Hybrid model. Darn! She is a beauty!
So here I am, waiting to join all of you with the pride of ownership and driving the CX-50.

Welcome to the forum

NA and gas most reliable less problematic….
To qualify my answer, I run a some what busy independent service shop with a large retirement customer base in a Del web community.
This is IMHO based on the number of less of those types that come into the service shops with problems. Also when there is problems generally speaking less costly in parts and labor time .

Thanks for the Reply. Is it an odd coincidence that I also live in a Del Webb Sun City community in Georgetown, TX?
What would you estimate of the ratio of Hybrids vs NA & Turbo owners where you live? Just curious.
Living where I do, the speed limit is 35mph or less might make the Hybrid a good one for me. I have a friend here that has driven a Prius for 20+ years with no problems. I hope I haven't committed sacrilege by mentioning it.
. . . and, I asked the young salesperson whether or not my owning a Mazda RX-3 from '73-'76 would qualify me for a Loyalty discount. He wasn't sure. I was just kidding, I did own the RX-3 and enjoyed driving a "sleeper.".

Living in the same type of community I would say because most of my neighbors seem to have a good retirement income, they buy the latest craze Hybrid and Keep it for 1/3 years and then trade it in for the next newest vehicle fad. There are Tesla everywhere also live in a golf course community, so these old farts drive them like they are at the Indy 500. LOL Here In Ca the legal speed max for electric Golf carts is 35 and these people get every bit of that no matter what neighborhood street they are on. I own a 2002 Ford Explorer, and they will ride my **** if I drive 25 or 15 on some street for safety. They also need to be licensed and you must wear a seat belt. But my guess is only less then 1/2 do that? And during summer you can often see their grandkid under 15 driving them unsupervised? LOL

As for Loyalty discounts at any dealership, it really is up to the dealership, not all of them get that directly from Mazda. Just keep in mind dealerships are an independently owned business and they must make a profit to stay in business. So to get a better deal or loyalty discount you may need to shop another dealership.

My guess based on what you posted you remember when the discounts came directly from the auto manufacture and if you were smart you made your best deal with a dealership and then handed them the manufactures discount.

I'm wondering how much my G'town dealer has to budge on price. I see ads for services that reveal Invoice Price, but don't know if I would trust them and don't want to pay the subscription fee.
If I choose to trade in, my car should get more $$ than only the Hybrid Premium Plus is listed, but that would depend on how much they offer for my car. I have a rough estimate from Carmax.
The dealer used parking lot is almost completely full of cars of all makes that don't appear to be going anywhere, so I wonder about their wanting to deal with trade-ins.
I see what you're saying about the Hybrid vs NA/turbo gas powered. Don't all the Japanese manufacturers get their turbos, hybrids, and ABS brake systems from the same sources?
This is all terribly exciting and stressful--just waiting on my title and all else with a deal.
I'm glad to have found this info resource.
P.S. Callisto, no offense, but one of my YouTube vices except for CX-50 videos is episodes of "The Californians" from Saturday Night Live. It is so absurd, but rings so true with my recollections of living in S. Ca., that I at least smirk at most of them.
I've lived in The Bay Area, too, but didn't find as much amusement as was in S. Ca. Sorry, . . . NOT Sorry!

Invoice cost does not include any credits to the dealership or flooring allowances. I wish people in general would stop assuming what a dealer pays for any vehicle on any platform. Most all that information is only to generate sales. Unless you were ever working at a NEW vehicle dealership in the capacity upper management, owner, investor, banker, loan manager for the vehicle inventory and few others that would have personal and private information pertaining to the actual roll on the lot (before flooring cost) of any vehcle its all HYP that has been passed down for decades. STOP already and just go make your best deal and don't assume anything as for the actual cost of the vehicle on that exact day!

There is NO law or regulation that a dealership must divulge their actual current for that day cost they have invested in that vehicle. As well there is no Law or regulation for any control of what they're asking price is.

Now please before some nuts on this forum respond I was careful how and what words I used. And I have an idea what some may respond with. So hopefully those that do have worked selling new vehicles and even better were in a capacity of some form of management or worked in the operation department of a dealership.

Thanks for the info and thanks for your wisdom. Buying a new car is stressful and confusing enough to someone who doesn't have depth in the process. I believe that you do, so Thanks Again!

IMHO I always suggest that you find the vehcle you like. Test drive it. Look for blind spot and seating comfort Look through the new control systems. Ask a lot of questions! Then make you best deal. Be prepared to walk away if you don't like the counteroffer from the dealership. They will call you back, Its part of the game. Or they will send out another salesman to try to convince you back into buying it. Sucks when this happens because if you are a salesman you have to split the deal you make on selling the vehicle and any spiff associated with that vehcle, and you now also lose any add on's that the second salesperson alone generally gets. And if you leave and come back and you are not there you get nothing as the original salesperson. LOL

It all in the game ..

Test drove one and did the deal on a 2026 CX-50 Hybrid, signed the papers Friday, picked it up Monday.
Very impressed with it except how much YT instruction it took to get my Fave radio stations into memory.
I like the handling, esp. the turning radius. The 19" tires are a little bit rough on rough pavement, but not too objectionable.
Our low temp Tuesday gave me a taste of how comfortable the heated steering wheel is. The seat ventilation is nice, too.
I like the switch controls on the steering wheel or in easy reach on the dash, rather than on a big touch screen that's way out of reach while driving.
I'm glad to be a Mazda 2nd owner. I hope you all are, too.
