Question Gear Indicator not working??

I recently bought a 2007 Mazda 3I with automatic transmission (with manual mode). I've never owned or even driven a Mazda before so my first question is , should there be an indicator on the dash that shows what gear I'm in? I switched to manual mode and there's still no number indicating what gear i'm in. I've tried to google it but im not exactly should of what I should be looking for. All of the result are showing me engine check light problems or AT warning lights on the dash but nothing really explaining what im missing. Coud it be a blown fuse? Do I need to replace the dash? HELPPPPP
