good morning all.... daughter's first car is a mazda 323 1994
here on the west coast gulf island we have a designation "island car"
my daughter picked one up ...a 1994 323 hatchback
driven by an islander who when his driver door began acting up used his bulk rather than repair, We are now dealing with fall out...door will only open from outside.
after dismantling door diagnosing issue I began searching for lock/latch mechanism. It seems however they are rare item,same as windshield which I have replaced
latch components are bent, twisted with pulling on metal rod the only way to open from inside
any suggestions. I found a used door in Arizona (only one) is this an indication that they don't ever break? or ?

Did you get a quote from Mazda for a new handle? They are made of plastic & get brittle over time.

 

Repaired with cable. Plastic clips were destroyed. Stealership wanted 300
