Default Dead engine

I have a Mazda CX5 - 2013 reg - 118k mileage.

I was driving on the motorway and the engine died mid drive, no weird sounds and no warning lights came on. Coasted to the hard shoulder and tried to restart, the engine came on for 2 seconds and is completely dead now. The lights do come on.
Has anyone experienced this or have a clue what it could be?

Diesel engine. A mechanic just looked at it roadside and said it was due to engine oil low pressure. He got the engine to start briefly before it cut out again. The engine sounded normal

Working on any Diesel engine requires some specific Deisel engine training. Most general auto mechanics don't have that and try to generalize some aspects of a diesel engine comparing a gasoline engine.

If your oil pressure was the issue, you would have gotten at least a check engine light and possible the oil light come on or flicker on? (Check the ECU for information) in 3 area's )

If neither then the need before running the engine or driving your Mazda needs to be determined so you DONT do any or further engine damage.
