Default CX 5 first oil change

Hello I just completed the first oil change on my 2024 CX5 non turbo . I have been changing my own oil for 60 years and this engine is the most simple I have ever had to change. I did find a couple of disturbing items. (1) the origional oil filter that I removed was a number PEO1-14-302B-MV and the "O" ring seal for the filter fell off into my oil catch can. You may say "so what" but the problem with this is that sometimes if the "O" ring detaches from the filter it will remain attached to the filter housing on the block, and if you don't notice and screw your new filter on you will definately have a serious oil leak. The second problem with the old filter was that it had a very thin piece of wire about 2 inches long laying on the oil discharge portion of the filter. It was twisted and appeared to be from a thread cutting. I installed a dealer furnished 1WPE-14-302 filter and Mobil ! synthetic 0-20 . I plan on a 5000 mile oil change frequency. I like the car

Both those serving oil filter seal and production. Curling of a threaded hole is actually very common and has never to my long decades use and knowledge of selling, installing and personally using ever cause any engine problem.
You may save some money and use a Fram or Mobil 1 oil filter next time? 5000 miles is also my target on or before those miles that I change my Mazda oil and filter as well!

As for your choice of oil viscosity , its summer next time look at the other viscosities and choose that one that better fit the operating environment.
