2026 Mazda CX90 Issues
Hello, I purchased a CX90 Premuim Plus on January 2, 2026. I live in Colorado and on January 6, 2026 I took it in for service. My 3 main issues are the heated steering wheel, clunky from a full stop and app for remote start. The steering wheel barely heats up and after 5 minutes it shuts off, although the light is still on. From a full stop the car struggles until it hits 20MPH and the app can only turn the car on or off, that is it. I received a call from the dealer on January 6, 2026 stating they could not find any issues with the steering wheel and the other 2 issues well that's just how the car drives and for the app you have to leave the heat on when exiting so it comes on with the remote start, I asked the tech to test drive the vehicle with me so I could show him the issues with the steering wheel . He agreed it was not getting hot and I needed to leave it. The clunky start is how the car drives in lower gears and there is no fix for the app. My car was ready for pick up a week later, again they worked with the Mazda Techs and there are no issues with the heated steering wheel. The explanation was it works off the ambient temperature. Basically I just purchased a 50k car so the vehicle could tell me when the steering should be heated. The fact that there is no customization for the remote start is ridiculous and archaic. I have turned off the I-Stop and that has helped with the lower gears from a dead stop. Now that I have been driving the vehicle more it does not handle bumps on the road well, it's suspension system is lacking. I do like the car but these issues are very frustrating for new 2026 vehicle. If anyone has any suggestions please reach out.

Did you take the time sit down and read your owners manual completely…
Don't take this wrong but did you test drive the Mazda before you bought it and did feel how it drove and performed on the road?
Not sure what you are asking for, Ypur Mazda is to new and at this point some of the issues are only interesting.
It reads more like you are disappointed that the service employee (they are not all techs and most are just general mechanics ) could not find the problems You felt were there ? This is not to say they were not only by your words seems they didn’t?
Also what did the service department state on your finalized service invoice? Not your words but exactly what was on the invoice .
You do realize that both Ypur engine and transmission have a break in period. Some new owners are more sensitive to things like how the engine and transmission respond to there driving style coming from a well broke in vehicle. The Mazda power train takes up to 3-7 thousand miles minus and depending up to 10-15 k miles to start to notice a change in better engine and transmission performance. If you don’t get a check engine light be a little more patient. Your Mazda is fully covered under warranty but nothing you posted points to s defect yet. But still would like to know the exact words used on your service invoice or better post it up.

Hello Callisto,
No I did not read the owners manual. The salesperson went through all the features in the vehicle. I test drove the 2025 as the 2026 had not arrived. When I my vehicle arrived I test drove the vehicle in the dealerships neighborhood. When I purchased the vehicle I was not told of a "Break in Period". I understood the service person correctly and I am not sure what inferences you are making. The service person explained that due to the electric(inline) motor and engine the lower gears can feel jerky. Since turning off the I Stop the jerkiness in lower gears has improved from a dead stop. My biggest gripe is the heated steering wheel and the app. In the settings under Occupatant Comfort everyting is selected and in the vehicle it is set to Auto. When I remote start the heat goes on and so does the rear defrost which is I had NOT selected. The steering wheel and heat warmer does not come. The temperatures lately have been in the signal digits where I live. Once I enter the vehicle the steering wheel and seat warmer comes. However, the steering gets lukewarm and turns off after 5 minutes. The paperwork I was handed by Mazda was the steering wheel would get to 90degrees that has not occurred.
I have looked up the vehicle in different forums and the issues I mentioned are known issues.
Regards,
Patsy

well first let me clear up you looking at other forums... see here is the thing 1 person like you will joining several forums and post the same complaints. So instead of a single person with a question or complaint you need to times it by 3 from the same person. Now many threads on forums are also found on other internet sources and likely may be that same person that posted on 3 forum and now a social media area. So now that 1 person has 4 to count to your "so many complaints. Now times that by say 6 Mazda owners and you can see where this is going.
I am sorry to say that buying a new vehcle no one gets full information as it once was. Like a simple break in procedure of a new engine and transmission. Too bad because so many issues and problem may have been reduced or just not occurred if new owners were reminded about that.
As for a salesperson knowing all the technical details of the over several different Mazda both for the remaining stock of mid to late 2024, 2025 and the newest 2026, never going to happen. I doubt any dealership has that one employee in service or sales that does on any platform. You need to keep[p asking and go to the dealership and maybe hope you get a fresh ear to bend to get more information.
As for your exact concern it's a 2026 Mazda and you should for the sake of your WARRANTY to go back to the dealer for help and get the correct information and not experiment. If you don't like the answer MAZDA direct, contacting them will get your answers or specifically whom and where to go to get them answered.
If you experiment with other users or owners' suggestion and you botch up the advice don't expect MAZDA to cover that mistake if you cause harm to any part of your new Mazda.
January is the worst time in our shop.... we get new and repeat customers that went out and purchased a new vehcle and come to us for help understanding them and how to do things on them as far as the amenities. Naturally many assume because they are old repeating customers that a simple question is no bother for us. And most of the time it's not. But In January especially on Mondays, I get 1-3 customers waiting at my shop door with their 2026 new vehcle and I know why they are there.
I actually spend my time and freely set up appoints for them at the different dealership with a specific person to go see. NO CHARGE!!!!
The "jerkiness" is not the gears by the way it the engagement force applied which is hydraulicly controlled and activated to adjust the pressure applied on the gear selection clutches to adjust the force needed under several operating conditions control by sensors from the engine and transmission to the ECU.
From my experience having many customers having this concern and not yet had the transmission and engine run for the miles I suggest early tend to go away after the break in period. I am not say that it should be ignore and you should go to Mazda service and have them log in your VIN and test drive your Mazda so it becomes your VIN history in the event something does happen that is transmission related you will have covered your butt by getting the service history. That history is available to any Mazda dealers most anywhere at least in the USA and Canada.
