I just bought an 03 Tribute and it drove and ran great all the 50 miles home. It set for 4 days and I hand washed the car and cleaned the dirty engine. Next I started the car and it was shaking and missing, and the check engine light flashes. All I did was carefully wipe all around the engine, disconnect and reconnect two connectors, check the air filter. I thought I may have knocked something loose so I went over and over all connectors and hoses everything is intact. I imediatly took it to my mechanic for a diagnostic check on that light. Does anyone have a solution or opinion to what I could have done.

 

The engine light coded a (P0305) misfire on cylinder #5. and also (p0136 No Discription). I installed new spark plugs, new coil boots for every coil, and an air filter. Started the car and still missinig. Next I installed a new coil for cylinder #5. Still missing. I disconnected the battery to erase the codes. Now there is still a miss, however the light has not come back on. The car seems to miss only at lower RPM 's like 2500 -1900. Runs pretty good at high rpm with no loss of power.

 

Does anyone know what code (P0316) means.

I have an 03 Mazda 6 with the same engine as the Tribute that runs excellent. If I take the coil packs from the car and put them in the Tribute will this work. I mean are they compatable with one another.
