Default Wheel Bearing & Hub

I have a 2004 Mazda6 (6-cylinder). The right front wheel bearing is making noise. I want to replace it, but I'm being told different things by different people. More specifically, do I replace just the bearing, or do I replace the bearing and the hub? And please explain why so I can understand your reasoning.

Thanks very much.

You can replace just the bearing, if the bearing alone is bad. It is a press in type, so you will have to take it & have the old bearing pressed out & the new one in.

Thanks for your response. You added the qualifier "if the bearing alone is bad." Doesn't that mean that someone has to take it apart first to determine what has to be replaced? The problem is that one place is telling me to replace just the bearing and the other is telling me to replace both, but neither place has opened it up to look.
