I read yahoo user review. Some people complain about cartidge oil filter on 06 mazda6. How much buy a cartidge oil filter in CA? Are all mazda 6 come with cartiage oil filter? How about v6 06 and 07?

I just did not remember my old 04 mazda 6i have cartidge oil filter or not. The car was crashed last year. Buying it back from bodyshop and AAA insurance. I am going to buy another mazda 6i 06 or 07 next year.

 

My 06 6i 4cyl has (had) a cartridge filter. As I understand the v6's hve spin-on. I hate cartridge filters and converted mine to spin-on. I think the cartridges are messy and time-consuming, but other people prefer them.

The cost to convert is about $45.

I also cut holes in my plastic stone guard so that I can access drain plug and filter, and therefore do oil changes in 10 minutes without lifting the car.

Thanks, additional question: $45 spend on any dealer? How much is cartidge oil filter? The worse situation I will buy cartidge oil filter for local autoshop to do oil change. I will not bring my car to dealer to do maintenace after the warranty expired.

My planning is buying one of the following: Mazda 6i 06 with side airbag and $1,000 convience package, o7 mazda 6i value edition, 06 mazda 6s or Mitsubishi Galant ES 06. All are automatic. It seems like v4 has more problems than v6 on mazda 6. For budget, I will still buy 4 cy than 6 cy. Mitsubishi is very cheap in Los Angeles, CA. Only a few dealers compare to Mazda. I have no idea how good is galant brake distance and quality.
