Warning lights back to back: check engine light, and now traction control
I was driving my Mazda 6 on a windy rural road with a big semi truck in front of me for miles. I have a manual transmission, and shifted hard down to 5th from 6th, then to 4th, for acceleration to pass the truck. Well, the check engine light came on (did not flash, stayed solid), but everything was driving great....but it must have really hated me shifting down like that.
I went to an auto parts store (OReilly's and have them read the code)....was a cylinder 2 misfire. Told me to disconnect the battery and should be fine. Drove it home about an hour away (I'm in the boonies) no problems, drove and sounded great despite the check engine light staying on. Unhooked both terminals of the battery overnight.
Woke up, plugged it back in, and now my traction control warning light at the top of the dash display is on, with also the traction warning indicator flashing "off". Pushing the traction control button does nothing to either light. The check engine warning light, however, is now gone.
Unhooked and rehooked the battery back up again.......it stayed the same.
Car runs and drives fine otherwise, (wonderful as always) and feels and sounds normal.
Thoughts?

Yep......that did the trick, after about 5 minutes of driving it. Thanks: much appreciated.
