Default Thinking of a Mazda6 Wagon GT

Hi all,
I am thinking of a 2006 Mazda 6 wagon, with about 78,000 kms on it. I have never owned Mazda before. I really like the wagons looks and they are not too common. Any ideas of what to look out for? What problems i may have ? I am coming from owning Honda with good reliability and unfortunately a BMW lemon. So I don't want to go back to Honda as nothing appeals to me and my costly BMW repairs has me never going BMW ever again. I'm interested in your suggestions. The only mod I plan is to change the rims.

Thanks

I have 06 mazda6s sedan. After replacing a fuel pump, the car is awesome. If no warranty, the cost of replacing fuel pump maybe around $500.

The wagon is great. I almost bought 05 wagon. Handling is great on 06 mazda6s compare to camry.

I have an 04 wagon and it has had no mechanical issues in its first 92,000 miles

I would make sure that whatever you buy has the side airbags... Mazda6 with the side airbags get a 5 star crash rating. It was an option in 04, but lucky for me, the previous owner sprung for them. I think they are standard on the 06-08 models, but for sure check.

I like the wagon because it has the room to haul around 4-5 people and during hunting season I can fold the seats down and get all my duck/geese decoys in the back along with my sled that I pull them all with - NICE! If only they and made an all wheel drive version, IMO it would be the perfect vehicle!!!

If you do happen to load and unload alot of big/heavy items from the back, you will likely begin to scratch the top of the rear bumper. If your car doesn't already have the rubber bumper cover, get one, it will be worth it. I got one thru this forum for about $20. Took me all of 10 minutes to install...

ENJOY!!

Well the 6 wagon is basically the same as the sedans. Except for the V6 is the only option for you. The V6 engine has been reliable from what I have heard on here and from others. It has some bugs here and there. But I would not lose any sleep over worrying about the reliability of your 6 wagon. They are sporty cars that will be fun and reliable for you for many years to come!

Default Lovike racks.e mine

I have a beautiful 04 Grand Touring with 90,000 trouble free miles. She is my camping, kayaking, cycling, running, swimming, and beach buddy. Only repairs have been maintenance- brakes, battery, tires (HIGHLY recommend Riken Raptors) Headliner starting to sag, but oh, well. That's from humidity from living in the Deep South and camping inside.
Handles like a dream and hauls all my toys.
Her name is "Waggy" or "Swagger Wagon".
Also have installed Thule foot packs, load bars, kayak and bike rack.

Did I mention that she FLIES and can turn on a dime? Also has 8 air bags and loads of safety goodies.

BUY ONE!!!! Got mine at Butch Oustalet Mazda in Gulfport.

I have noticed that the Yakima 3-bike rack that I installed on top of my 6 wagon slows it down some... I think it is all the drag. I had a hard time getting it to go over 105 the other day
