Default Takuya estate mzr cd 2.2 exhaust removal

Hi,

Just checking to be on the cautious side...
Looking to take the whole exaust off so its easier to work on. Got the engine end free, discnnected all sensors except the two on top of the dpf.

Theres a metal plate under the exhaust around the center of the car. If i take this off the exhaust should drop out nicely in one piece. Is it safe to remove this plate? Its not going to do anything unexpected like deform the car if i remove it?

Got some wynns dpf cleaner as dpf light flashing on all the time and nothing else has touched it so far.

Thanks in advance,
Al

Well, in case anyone else finds this helpful, i loosened the bolts, and there didnt seem to be any strain, so guessing its just to prevent flex when driving. Took the plate off, unplugged the sensors and air pressure hoses, and with a bit of wd40 and a hanger tool the whole exhaust came off no bother.

Propped it against a wall and plugged the front end up as well as the air pressure pipes. Tied it to a down pipe at the top, bottom sitting in a bucket, and poured the wynns off-car dpf cleaner in from the tail pipe. Will see how it goes. All the bolts are corroded so more hassle trying to take the exhaust apart.
Should be able to flush it out tomorrow and dry it off with an old wallpaper heat gun up the tail for a bit before remounting.

Two wheels up a wheelchair ramp to get under it. Bit of a squeeze but better than axel stands and a jack.
