Default Anyone had their DPF removed? How is the car running?

I've got this light flashing again, along with the engine warning light and TSC light (not flashing), and limp mode. Checking the error codes just showed problems with the DPF. Doing some googling I can see a lot of hits regarding DPF removal, and plenty of local campanies that say they can do it.

Has anyone tried this, and is it worth it?

Is yours the 1.6d on the latest 5, or the 2.0d on the previous model?

had mine removed after constantly regenerating it - the dealership just told me to keep the revs above 3000!! that would mean never using 6th gear and spending a fortune on diesel. The guy at the dealers just shrugged and said - yeah that's right. -GREAT!!

so... had it removed by Leyland Autodiagnostics in Lancashire - cost £450,

Improved fuel consumption by 20% and runs fine.

£450, that's not bad, I was quoted £600.

In the end I found a local garage that claimed to be able to give the DPF a chemical clean, returning it to an almost 'as-new' state without removing it, they did this for under £200 and the problem hasn't come back yet. Will consider removing depending on the frequency that these cleans are required.

iainso - Looks as though you made the right call for a DPF clean rather than removal.

finally I made a decision about my car that turned out to be the right one - and I've got quite a record of making historically bad decisions when it comes to cars.

Seriously though, unless these DPFs become cheaper, this could be another nail in the coffin of diesel cars. Did anyone hear of this recent contamination at service stations in the east of the UK wrecking hundreds of peoples DPFs?

My dads (under warranty) 6 2.0 ts 2008 Blew its engine up because of this filter. Mazda UK refused to fix under warranty despite the cars low mileage and been on its 3rd new turbo!
