snow cables for the 6

snow cables for the 6
Anyone had any success finding snow cables that fit the 6? I know the manual says no cables but California says I need to have them. I've tried a few but they all rub the suspension. Anyone have any luck?

Like the manual says, don't put them on the car. You will most likely cause damage to the car. Could be as little as just damaging the inner fender or some serious body damage. Could also damage the coil spring or other suspension parts. Get snow tires and show that you aren't supposed to use chains. Also, you can void your warranty if you are still in the warranty period.

Doesn't work that way here, I'm afraid. Drive in the mountains in the snow and unless you have a 4WD, chains/cables are required, period. Snow tires, warranties and manuals don't matter to the CHP. They will just turn you around on the spot.
I'm thinking a set of different sized, slightly narrower tires/wheels for trips to the snow might be the answer.

If you MUST use them, then I believe that would be you only chance, installing a smaller diameter rim/tire combo with a slight offset would help. I would go no larger than a 16 in rim with a 40 or 45 aspect ratio and some cable chains with rubber tensioners. I would also consult with a service shop or dealer to see what they say. Good luck to you.
