Default 2004 Mazda6 Throttle Body Sensor Programming

I have a 2004 Mazda6 wagon with 197000 miles on it. Engine light came on with code P2135 (throttle body sensor). Was looking to purchase an entire new throttle body with Cordova motorsports, but after doing my homework on this site (great info on here by the way), I noticed that the TBS on the car was the one that started with VP4M3U instead of the newer VP7T4U. I thought, "Why not just look for the sensor and just replace that instead of forking out a third of what I paid for the car on new throttle body?" Found this on ebay:

New Throttle Position Sensor Valve Kit for Ford Lincoln Mercury Vehicles | eBay

I realize it was meant for Ford, but thought that engine was the same and it was a VP7T4U model, so why not give it a whirl. 40 bucks, can't go wrong. Installed it, reset computer and now the car won't even start. Boo. Is there any way to reprogram these things or do I need to just fork out the cash to get new throttle body?

Thanks so much in advance for the help. Just need to save some money here and get this baby running again.

There is no programming for it. Are you 100% sure its the right part for your car? Refit your old sensor & see if it starts.

I did, and it did... Looks like the cheap way isn't going to cut it.

You get what you pay for. Also, the pic showed rust on long electronic piece. It also said "NEW OEM take-off part, removed from Zero-mile never installed Motor. Bulk packed, with some......" . Some scratches from storage, because it's a core only! Also, why would someone remove it @ Zero mile-------i'll tell you why, more than likely because it doesn't F'n work or it was on longer and they lied! Bulk packing is not a good sign either as a pile of them were thrown in together, usually meaning defective or it's a "core" only and needs to be rebuilt.

Not sure why they would "scam" me with a part that doesn't work when it is money back guarantee, but thanks for the 2 cents I guess...

Little more than .02! $15.75 in shipping, + $15.75 to return it.
Hope you get the $40 back. 20% restocking charge? What a hassle.
You will be lucky if you can return it as it is electrical, and you plugged it in. Better not tell them you have a Mazda!

Next: why didn't you check the compatability? I just checked it and it says it's not compatabile. I wouldn't have bought it!
See attached pic of compatabilty results:
