Default Rear Defroster and Oil?

Ok i installed the Metra dash kit in my 04' 6s earlier this summer....................but now that its starting to get a lil' cooler outside..............i had to use my rear defroster for the first time since the dash kit install.

but it doesnt work. the light comes on on the console but the defroster doesnt defrost anything. I'm thinking its because of the dash kit. i made sure everything is hooked up too.

anyone else experience this after putting in the metra dash kit?

now for the oil...............i know that we are supposed to put in 5w20 oil in our 6's but would putting in 5w30 in hurt anything. i put the quaker state advanced engine full synthetic in today, but relized i grab 30 instead on 20/

so will it hurt anything?

Default RE: Rear Defroster and Oil?

No, that motor oil won't hurt anything, it's insignificantly thicker. You could probably put in anything short of 20w50 without damaging anything, though I'd recommend putting in the 5/30 or 5/20. I think it says 5/30 in the manual for my Speed 6.

About the defrost.. How long did u let it work. I had to use it the other day, and it takes a while. If you're just getting the light, the only thing I can come up with is a fuse or relay, but in that case, I don't think you'd get the light.
