Default open downpipe

im thinkin about taking out the catback exhaust for good.
and just run it "open"

itll be deafning loud. but from the rear the car will look like it has no exhaust
but hey. a cheap way to make ur car sound nice. maybe gain a few hp

what are we waiting for? [8D]

haa u found an OLDDD post

yea i did it. took off both mufflers right after the Y-split. the car sounded like a mustang gt
no joke. and since i have a manual id love hearing the downshifts etc.

had it like this for 3 months before a cop saw i had nothing under the bumpers. pulled me over for "illegal exhaust" $54 fine

ScoobySnack. i highly recommend doing this. its well worth it. just be prepared to pay the fine.

Yeah, I had a cherry bomb glass pack installed where the resoniator used to be and took off the mufflers where it Y'ed out. Sounds soooo good, people are amazed at the sound of it and how it is very deep for a 4 cyl. Power increases are great as well, not as good as a cat-back, but for a $30 dollar glass pack compared to a $400-$500 dollar cat, the sound is awesome. I promise you will love the sound, it sounds like the eclipse on The F&F but a tad bit deeper. Been driving around with them off for about 6 months now and cops haven't said anything to me, as long as you keep your cataylic on, your fine. Definately recommend trying it before you go in on $500.

with the stock headers its not that loud if u take the mufflers off.. i ran straight pipes with the cp-e headers and it was damn loud.. if u hit the gas and someone was behind u they were like wtf and covered their ears hah it hurt being behind the car when u revved it. just starting the car would set a bunch of alarms off heh.. yeah it was loud but above 3k rpm it sounded like absolute crap. even now with the injen exhaust ive set alarms off without many problems.. but now i get a kick out of setting alarms off with my system lol.
