No Left Turn Signal
Hi Everyone,
Was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas on my problem here:
I have a 2005 Mazda 6 sedan(love the car BTW) and all of a sudden the left turn signal doesn't work. Nothing from the front/rear left signal and nothing from the indicator on the cluster as well. But everything with the right signal light works perfectly fine. Same result when I turn on the hazards (nothing from the left side). Headlights and stoplights are all fine. I have checked the fuse and the bulbs are ok.
Hoping someone might have a simple resolution or have any suggestions on what else I could check. would appreciate any input you guys have. Just wanted to try the forum before I send the car in to get serviced.
Thanks in advance.

I am guessing, throwing this out as a possibility only, but:
1) It"s possible that to get to the hazard switch, the wiring first goes through the turn signal stalk. I would start there, see if you have power going in, and out. It may just be a faulty stalk switch assem.
2) It could also simply be a loose wire, one that came out of a plug somewhere too. As you follow the wiring, be sure to push in all the individual wires that go into a plug. Perhaps something wasn"t seated correctly from the factory and that time and vibration have finally caused it to fail.
Just a thought... or two.

I had heard that these cars do not have flasher units, but that instead it is controlled by the PCM. That"s why I didn"t suggest that. Which is correct?

Hmmm.... And the 3 series? Does it use the same flasher and location?

Yeah, that would be great since I have had no luck finding out for sure. I have asked a number of times and done some exploritory surgery, but haven"t ever been able to say w/o a doubt, "I FOUND IT!!!"
To the OP, ahuro,
Sorry for the threadjack man, but I hope our suggestions have given you a place to start, ifnot the actual answer.

Really appreciate the input. No worries about the thread jack, your discussion actually helped me find the right flasher unit for my car.
Just to let you know, it was indeed the flasher unit. Replaced the unit behind the cluster and the left turn signal is back. Once again, thanks a bunch guys.
