Default Need Help in Buying a Mazda6 2005

HI everybody, after doing some research i decided to get a Mazda6. The look is cool the price is also good and the MPG is acceptable.

The only problem is I'm a newbe in cars and would therefore really appreciate your help.

I recently found this Mazda6 on ebay and would hope to get some feedback from you guys.

How is the price?
What do i need to consider when buying a Mazda 6 2005?
When is it time to start replacing wear-out parts?

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

I really hope this is the right section to ask these kind of questions

This one is manual transmission. I had 04 mazda 6i with automatic. It is just like this one except different transmission. The quality of Fuel pump is not so good on mazda 6i or 6s.
The price of v6's fuel pump is very expensive. 4 cy maybe much cheaper.

Without good fuel pump, the car was suddenly stop in many times either 6i or 6s. After replaced the new fuel pump, there is no more suddenly stop.l

I replaced fuel pump around 47,000 miles on my v6. I replaced water pumper around 57,000 miles. It is not so cheap.

The other thing I don't like the battery on my mazda6s. The life of every battery was less than 2 years. I need to replace another one during weekend.

You don't say if you are looking at a 4 or 6 cyl. If you are looking at a V6, there is one serious, somewhat frequent issue to be advised of: pre-cat failure.

A somewhat large number of V6 owners on two other Mazda6 boards have had their pre-cats fail, and subsequently take the engine with them. One of two things seems to happen- either the catalyst material overheats, turns into a lump, blocks-off the exhaust, the engine can't breathe, and if you're (very) lucky to catch it early, the engine may not be toasted. The other thing that happens is the catalyst material actually breaks-down into chunks and dust. Then, when you decelerate and the engine draws back-in through the exhaust, the dust and/or chunks are drawn back into the cylinder/s. I don't have to tell you what happens when hard, dense material is put into the cylinder/s. This scenario I've never heard of an engine surviving.

Other than that, it's just a mix of odds-n-ends. There was a TSB on some throttle bodies, including some that made it onto 2005s. There have been issues with the cooling fan module. Don't recall if it was an actual recall, or just replaced for free under warranty.

Other than that, nothing coming to mind right now.

I can think of nothing I've heard is a regular problem with the four cylinder cars; they seem to be very reliable.
