My 6 has completely lost its power
So.....I get up in the morning and head out to got o school. I get in my car and start it up and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on and the RPM's are bouncing up and down between 1400 to almost stalling. I drive it down the road and it completely has no power at all, it still drives, but it feels like it bogs down when u give it gas. It completely loses power above 3200 RPMs until I shift into another gear. I drive it atleast 18 miles until I get back home and the engine starts smoking alittle. I pop the hood to see what the deal is and the thing is super hot, although my temperature gauge says its even and fine. It is a stock setup on the engine except for a Redline chip I bought off Ebay that connects the 2 right wires on the MAF sensor to supposably give it more power. Did I just screw up by putting that on there and whats the problem with it? Thanks for the help

that resistor mod doesn't really work on the new mazdas as the ecu learns it's way around them. 1st, don't unplug your battery to clear the code, you should find out what it is first. 2nd, though the heat might be from the irratic driving, the problem sounds like 1 of3 things. 1) vacuum leak 2) you tweaked the MAF wires when doing the mod and fried the MAF 3) TB died - and there is a TSB for that one, as it's somewhat common depending on year.
check your vacuum lines around the intake 1st, as it's pretty easy. let the car cool down, and call some local autoparts stores to see if they have a scanner that is "CAN capable" you might need to explain CAN is "the new ODBII" standard to them on the phone. get it scanned. Mazda6tech.com has a list of all the CEL codes, so you can find out what the issue is. then go from there. if it ends up being a MAF, I have an extra one that i'll sell ya if needed.

Yeah, you were right MrTea, my MAF sensor got fired somehow. I took it to Autozone and they hooked up the ODBII to it and it read a fault code that went with the MAF sensor. I appreciate the offer to send me a MAF sensor, but I already bought one after I got done at Autozone, problem was fixed after I got a new one. Amazing how expensive those little things are......$138.

yeah, i bought an extra one to bring to the track with me just in case. i would suggest removing your "chip" as it really doens't do anything with the car. i've got lots of parts laying around, so feel free to hit me up for stuff, though a lot of the good stuff has been takin i guess.
