Mufflers
I would stick with just mufflers unless planning to actually race the car.
If its duties mostly include DD, grocery getting, etc, don't go bigger on the tubing size.
Mazda piston engines in general have a throaty tone to them, so its just a matter of bringing that out a bit.
There are a number of aftermarket exhaust co's that can do the trick for you, depending on your budget. Vibrant, MagnaFlow, Borla and even FlowMaster 70 series (the quietest) would do the job. But I'm sure, in fact I know there are many others.
If looking for a "little" more sound, which is where you seem to be going with this, stay with the chambered free-flows. If all-out chaos is required, a classic straight-through glass pack would be the way to go.
You will need to take some measurements of the OE mufflers and the space they are in, as well as tubing diameter in order to determine what will fit properly, and w/o modifications. Also be aware of the inlet, and outlet locations.
I like Virgin1's view on this. When adding a "CAT BACK" exhaust, the tubing is normally slightly increased. This increase slows down the exhaust---unless you match the REAR MAIN CAT to the size of the new tubing and change the pipes after the "PRE-CATS" the "CAT BACK EXHAUST" is almost useless.
