Mazda dealership damage
Hi everyone, I live just outside Toronto and recently had my 2009 mazda 6 in a dealership service center for recalled repairs. The repairs went fine and than thankfully I didn't have to pay a dime. Unfortunately, after receiving my car, on the way home noticed a 10 inch crack or cut in the passenger dash board that i know for certain was not there before I dropped my car off. First of all I was upset that I was never notified of this damage and it felt like the mechanics think I wouldn't notice. After dropping my car off a second time and speaking the a service member, I was informed that there is no way they could have done this as they access the airbag from underneath( the recall was for the passenger air bag). I told him that even so, it was still damaged while it was in mazdas care and it wasn't like that before. He then told me this was a "fairly common issue with my car and that it happens in extreme temperature changes. My car was there for about 3 days and the temperature never dropped below -5. He said I would need to pay for a new dashboard but that he would install it free of charge. Im not quite upset that my car was damaged out of my hands and now I'm forced to pay for it. I'm a new driver (19) and not sure how to handle this situation as I dont have alot of money right now and feel as if I'm being pushed aside and forced to just suck it up. Any suggestions or info on policies for this kind of thing would be greatly appreciated.
