Mazda 6 - Low oil pressure
Hello all, I'm hoping someone can help as I'm loosing my mind with this car 😫
We have a 2014 plate, mazda 6 2.2ltr skyactiv thay keeps coming up with 'low oil pressure'. Let's you drive for about a mile then goes into some sort of self preservation mode where it stops revving and just shuts off.
The first time we had this happened (motorway driving) it was 3months after buying, took it to a garage and they couldn't find any issues just cleaned out the oil, refilled and job done.
Second time it happened (B roads) the oil was low but not desperate, topped up and no issues. Continued to drive as normal. So we just assumed this is a oil thirsty car and we just need to check the oil levels more regularly as for some reason the car doesn't tell us until its basically too late.
The third time was today, (motor way driving) the error comes up again, we manage to limp it to a services. Turn off the engine, check the oil - more than enough. Turn engine back on and it's working fine again!
I have 2 small children, I can't keep messing about with the car keep cutting out on me like this. Does anyone have any ideas what on earth could be happening?
Tia!

Hi Tia,
Our car was a 2013 Mazda 6 with the 2.2L dual turbo diesel. It was a SH motor. The SH motors are prone to carbonization of the oil as diesel gets into the oil and carbonizes. What it does is makes little solid particles and they end up blocking the oil pickup and starving all the components of oil which then causes wear and issues with the motor.
Hopefully the motor is under 140Kms or they wont replace the motor. They replaced ours from cam to sump but we got rid of it as they wouldn't say if it would happen again and 3 service techs said to get rid of it ASAP.
If it threw a code of P253F (Deteriorated oil or wrong oil type) its not good and if it is followed by P06DE (Engine oil pressure control circuit stuck on) you are probable up for a new motor, Sorry.
Hope this helps some.
