Ihave the 2004auto mazda 6s. as i was driving. i was currently in Drive and going 40mph and it was in 5th gear. cruise control was not on. i hit the gas a little bit and it down shifted by itself and went into either 3rd or 4th gear. It never did this before , what could be the problem if any?

 

it is what is called a kick down cable, when you hit the throttle it will kick down gears to get you at a higher rpm so that you can eccelerate faster it is not the trany
