I upgraded the BOSE system in my Speed6 by using AudioControl's LC6, line-input converter (about $120). It allows you to use the existing head unit, but cleans up the audio tremendously, and then youcan send the outputs to your amps and upgrade the speakers in the car.

It's a huge improvement, and best of all - I can use the existing steering wheel audio controls. I went with an Alpine PDX4-100 amplifier and upgraded the speakers to Focal and JL audio.

Good luck!
