Mazda 6 2006 2.3L Sport Auto
I think I can hear the fuel pump struggling. I had my fuel pump assembly replaced only 2 years ago after I reported the same symptom to my mechanic. I remember the mechanic saying it was the filter that was clogged, so I'm assuming that the pump and filter are all one assembly in my car(?). I asked him if there was anything I was doing wrong and he said there was nothing. I use PaknSave 95 fuel - I wonder if that matters.

Has anyone changed their own fuel pump? Advice on that? It's only been two years! Assuming it's the filter can I clean the filter and then put the assembly back in?

What sound are you hearing? Are you having any driveability issues? Does the sound/symptom change depending on fuel tank level?

 

Hi grim,

Could hear the pump too audibly from the drivers seat. No driveability issues. Haven't noticed it for a week now though - I'll keep an eye...maybe it's quiter now that I've filled up. I'll post here if any developments. Thanks for your help.
