Default Firestone firehawk GT tire

I would like to buy four new tires. Firestone firehawk 215/50R17 is $106.25 (original $124.99). Are they good compare to other brands? Can they really last 40,000 miles?

What the difference between firehawk and Bridgestone Turanza Serenity? These two tires are currently discounted.

Thanks

K

Personally, I try to stay away from Firestone tires. They have a reputation for shoddy construction and extremely inconsistent quality. As for those specific tires, comparing the ratings on tirerack shows me that the Bridgestone is a much better tire.
Feel free to read the reviews yourself.
Firestone
Bridgestone

The list so you can look at the ratings. Currently I'm running a set of Dunlop SP sport signatures and couldn't be happier. They are wearing wonderfully, are nice and quiet, and grip nicely in the wet and dry.

I just put on new Hankook Ventus 12's. $91 each from Tire Rack. Very happy with them so far.

I'm just finishing off my 2nd set of Yokohama Avid V4S tires. I absolutely love the tire, except for the tread wear. Both sets were done after only 25-30k miles. Very much like the OEM Michelins. Yoko has come out with the Avid ENVigor, which they say will last much longer than the previous models. And at $119 on Tirerack.com, that's probably what I'll end up getting.

Not a fan at all of the Yokohamas. If you want an all-season, try Toyo. The Proxes is a really good tire. Like all tires, there is a tradeoff between performance and wear, so you need to weigh that difference for yourself. FYI, Tire Rack does not sell Toyo.

Default Michelin Primacy Mxv4

I Just replace new tires. This tire is very good which is better than OEM. Got 4 tires installed without alignment for $836.35 (less 120 cash rebate).

By pretty much every account I've heard or read, the Michelin Primacy MXV4 is the best all-around tire ever made in the all-season market space. Good choice.
