Dome Lights

The dome lights on our 2005 Mazda 6..are aweful.
Any suggestions??
I see some people install LEDs...how much more draw on the battery, and do they heat up more, possibily melting the plastic lens???

LED's draw less current than the standard bulbs, run cooler & are generally brighter.

I've had LED's in my interior lights for over 2 years, without issues.
