Crankshaft damper removal tips/tricks?
I have a '94 626 w/the 2.0L. I'm having a heckuva time getting the crankshaft damper removed. Chilton's says to put a bolt in one of the threaded holes on either side of the crankshaft bolt, and to pry against that. I've busted to bolts so far, and the crankshaft bolt hasn't budged. Anyone have any tips or ticks to break it free?
There's a special tool to keep the crankshaft from moving. It's a bar with a chain. I don't know what it's called exactly, but if there's a harbor freight tools any where near you they'll know what ur talking about.
the 6's setup is different than the 626, so might wanna hit up the 626 section for a better response. we have a bolt that goes through the pulley, into the block, which then allows you to loosen the main bolt....the pulley comes right off at that point for us.
