Default Central locking not working

Hi, I recently bought a 2003 Mazda Atenza (Mazda6) sports hatch. It came with one key that fits the drivers door and ignition. Despite being nearly 20 years old, it’s in great nick all the lights and electronics work, runs excellent, it’s a great car.
Except, one day I discovered by accident that when I was locking the car with the key, that only the drivers door was locking and unlocking. I never even thought to check that the central locking worked, cars from the early nineties have central locking.
So I tried the inside lock on the drivers door, but that doesn’t trigger central locking. And if I manually lock all four doors I can’t lock the boot, ive searched the inside of the boot and the drivers door and the whole car for a switch or button and can’t find one. I thought I’d try this forum for if anyone has more knowledge about this model or have experienced something similar?? Is it a button or switch that I’ve missed, a blown fuse, maybe an ecu reset will fix it. Or do I have to get a remote or fob or something and programme it??
I appreciate anything helpful, thank you.

Most likely ( without diagnosis) the drivers door lock assembly has failed & not transmitting the lock signal to the other doors.
